Do your kids like cake and you hesitate to give them daily? Then have a look at this basic oatmeal chocolate cake recipe made of oats and wheat flour.
This simple cake recipe is healthy and suitable for kids. My 2.5-year son loves cake so much that every other day he demands cake. Initially, I used to give him a ready-made market cake. But then I thought of making it at home so that he can have pure homemade cake without any preservatives. I got the satisfaction that he is eating homemade cake, but still, the worry of giving refine flour started bothering me. So, I tried making the oatmeal and wheat cake, which I think kids can have every day in a small amount.
Prep time: 15 min
Cooking time: 30 min
1/2 cup or 115 gm sugar
50 gm salted butter
2 piece eggs
100 gm powdered oatmeal
100 gm wheat flour
1/4 cup cocoa powder(100%pure)
1 teaspoon baking powder
Pinch of cinnamon
Pinch of salt
1/3 cup milk
6-7 drops vanilla essence
4 teaspoon olive oil
Add butter and sugar in a bowl and whisk it with the spatula until it becomes a little bit smoother.
Then add eggs in it and mix well with the beater. And if beater is not available, you can also use blender till the mixture becomes fluffy and light.
Add vanilla essence to it and put it aside.
Start preparation for dry material.
Take 1 cup of whole oats and grind it in a mixture, it will approximately measure 150 gm. Add 50 gm of wheat flour to make it 200 gm.
In the above flour mixture, add cocoa powder, baking powder, cinnamon, salt as per the amount mentioned in the ingredient section. Mix it well with the spoon.
Now start adding dry flour mixture in the egg mixture. The addition should be in small portions followed by a gentle cut and fold mixing.
If you feel that mixture is getting thick and not mixing well, add milk to make the mixture slightly thin and soft.
Add olive oil to it once all mixture has been added and mixed well.
Before baking the cake, make sure to preheat the oven at 180C. Grease the container in which you are going to bake your cake with butter and sprinkle flour to it.
Put it in the oven and bake it for 30 min. If your cake mold is deep and less in width, put 5 to 10 min more.
Once it is done, remove from the oven and let it cool. It is very important to cool, otherwise, it will break off while Un-molding.
Note: How to know whether the cake is baked or not.
You can check by inserting a knife, if it comes clean then the cake is done.
Another way is to see the sides of the cake. If it is detached from the container, that also indicates cake is done.
