Marble cake is nothing but Vanilla cake with streaks of Chocolate in it. It is basically a recipe for a simple Vanilla cake whose half of the batter is mixed with cocoa powder to get a chocolate cake. For the chocolate mixture, I have used cocoa powder but it can be replaced by melted unsweetened dark chocolate. With right amount of ingredients and mixing technique, this cake turned out to be soft and airy.
Prep time: 20 Min
Bake time: 45-50 Min
2 cup Refined flour
4 Whole eggs
100 gm Butter
1 and 1/2 cup Castor sugar (You can add 1 and 2/3 cup of sugar if you like more sweetness).
1 and 1/2 tsp Vanilla essence
1 tsp Baking powder
2 tbsp Cocoa powder
5-6 tbsp water
Take a specified amount of refined flour and baking powder in a bowl. Give the mixture a toss and pass it through the sieve to make sure there are no lumps. Keep it aside until you prepare other elements.
Next, take 4 whole eggs in another bowl and add vanilla essence to it.
Beat the mixture for 2 minutes or till you get a fluffy and frothy solution. Keep that aside too.
Sieve a defined amount of castor sugar in yet another bowl and pour melted butter on it. You can melt butter on the double boiler or microwave for 30 seconds but be careful not to burn it.
Stir the above mixture so that sugar and butter blend well and transfer it into the egg solution. Mix them well with a spoon. Make sure there is no lump and the solution is even, uniform, and glistening.
Next, transfer a small amount of dry mixture (i.e flour and baking powder)into the solution and mix it with cut and fold technique.
Keep adding flour gradually, fold it well in the egg mixture until you get a smooth batter-like consistency.
Then transfer half amount of the above mixture in an another bowl.
In a small bowl, take cocoa powder, add 4-5 tsp of water to it and mix to get a paste.
Pour this paste to one half of the batter, cut and fold it well to get monotonous chocolaty mixture.
Grease your cake mould entirely with butter, i.e bottom and sides.
Next sprinkle it with refined flour and then by inverting the mould just tap it to get rid of extra flour. Your tray should be uniformly coated with a light layer of flour.
Take both Vanilla and Chocolate batter and pour a small-small amount of them on each other, alternatively.
When the entire batter is added, take a toothpick and make whatever design you want. I have just streaked it into 8 parts.
Transfer the tray into a preheated oven and bake it for 45-50 minutes at 180°C. The baking time depends on the inches and depth of your mold. So best to check it by inserting a knife in it. If it comes clear, your cake is done.
Let it cool down for few minutes and then cut it in whatever style you want.
A soft and delicious marble cake with streaks of vanilla and chocolate is ready to munch on.
