Basil Tomato Cheese Sandwich
In Pune, there is one cafe where we visit frequently to have basil tomato sandwich. It is a non-spicy sandwich, but very delicious with a nice balance of tomato and basil. The recipe is very simple and quick to make. Moreover, it’s a healthy option, especially for kids.
Prep time: 15 min
Cook time: 5 min
Serves: 2
Ingredients:
4 medium sized Tomatoes
70 gm Italian Basil
4-5 cube cheese
1/2 teaspoon pepper powder(can add as per your taste)
2 teaspoon olive oil
1 piece dry chili, crush it to make chili flakes(can add as per your taste)
Butter(salted)
Medium sized bread packet( I preferred brown bread)
Salt to taste(Be careful in adding salt because both cheese and butter will contain salt).
Preparation method:
Chop tomatoes and transfer it in the bowl.
Then chop basils by tearing it with your hands rather than cutting with a knife and mix it with tomatoes.
Add pepper powder, chili flakes, olive oil, and salt to taste to the above mixture and mix it well.
Take two slices of bread, apply a little bit of butter on both slices of bread and spread the mixture on one of the bread slices.
Grate some cheese on it and put another slice of bread on it. I used half piece of cheese for each sandwich. You can use a whole cube too if you like more cheesy.
Use a sandwich toaster to toast it. But if you don’t have a toaster, grill it on the pan.
For grilling, put one slice with butter applied side facing down on the pan. Slowly spread the mixture on a bread and cover it with another slice with butter side facing up. Let it roast from both sides and yummy brown crusty sandwich is ready to eat.
Looks tasty
Thank you.
