Masala oats

Varieties of ready-to-eat oats are available in the market, which is sold as very healthy food items.  But if you check their ingredients section, you will find preservatives and additives. So it is better to make more pure and healthy oats at home. This recipe is very simple and quick to make.

1&1/2 cups oats

1/4 cup curd

2&1/2 cup water

1/4 cup chopped onion

1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper

1/4 cup chopped yellow bell pepper

1/4 cup chopped red bell pepper

1/4 cup chopped carrots

1 piece chopped tomato

4-5 cloves garlic

small piece ginger

1 green chili

1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

1/2 teaspoon red chili powder

1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds

Pinch of asafoetida

4 teaspoon olive oil( you can use any kind of oil)

Preparation method:

Take a pan and put 4 teaspoons of oil. Once it gets hot, add cumin seeds, asafoetida and let it splatter.

Then add onions and let it cook till translucent. Further add crushed garlic, ginger, chili paste to it and saute it.


Next add carrots, all bell peppers and let it cook for around 3-5 mins.

Put turmeric, chili powder, oats to it and mix it well.

Add water, curd, tomatoes, salt to taste and mix it properly.

Cover the lid and cook it for 2-3 mins and your oats are done. You can add coriander or green onions for garnishing.
